Punto X Punto (Stitch by Stitch) is a program to help rural Mexican women achieve financial independence by providing work as sewers of hooded sweaters (hoodies). The women have limited resources to achieve a measure of self-sufficiency due to cultural, political, economic and educational shortcomings beyond their control.

The sewing project, under the auspices of sponsor www.laslibres.org, has designed, created and sold the hoodies to markets in the United States, Canada, Germany and Mexico. The business goal of the program is to develop sustainable markets through organizations that guarantee a fair price for producers (e.g. Fair Trade).

Over 100 sweaters were sold in the first two years of operation. The plan for 2009 is to expand our sales to fair trade markets, Internet businesses as well as local Mexican shops.
